OCNI Leads Trade Mission to Sweden and Norway to Strengthen Global Nuclear Collaboration<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

October 2025 \u2014 Stockholm, Sweden<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI)<\/strong> was proud to lead a Canadian trade mission to Sweden and Norway<\/strong> last week, marking a significant step forward in expanding international collaboration and advancing Canada\u2019s nuclear supply chain on the global stage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This CanExport-funded trade mission<\/strong> builds on recent bilateral engagements, including a 2024 visit to Stockholm by Canadian industry representatives and a 2025 Norwegian trade delegation to Canada. This year\u2019s trade mission comes at a critical time as opportunities for new nuclear projects are growing across Northern Europe. The OCNI delegation connected Canadian suppliers directly with Swedish and Norwegian industry leaders, utilities, government officials, and research organizations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The mission began with a briefing at the Canadian Embassy<\/strong> followed by site visits to leading Swedish nuclear organizations, including Studsvik<\/strong>, Cyclife Sweden<\/strong>, and AB SVAFO<\/strong>. The following day OCNI and its member companies, including Aecon<\/strong>, BWXT Canada<\/strong>, L3 Harris<\/strong>, Laurentis Energy Partners<\/strong>, and WSP Canada<\/strong>,\u00a0 participated in the Nordic Baltic Nuclear Investment Summit<\/strong> in Stockholm, where leaders from across Northern Europe gathered to discuss strategies to triple nuclear energy in Sweden<\/strong> and support new projects emerging in Poland, Estonia, and Latvia<\/strong>.\u00a0

The delegation ended the trade mission in Oslo with an embassy briefing and a series of technical site visits to key Norwegian research organizations, including the Institute for Energy Technology (Halden)<\/strong>, the Norwegian Nuclear Research Centre<\/strong>, and the DECOM Cluster<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This mission comes at a pivotal time, as Sweden\u2019s recently passed Nuclear Energy Act<\/strong> introduces over 200 billion kroner (73 million CAD)<\/strong> in funding, securities, and investment guarantees to expand the country\u2019s nuclear capacity. With this new momentum across the region, OCNI\u2019s members are well-positioned to contribute proven technologies, services, and expertise to help power a clean energy future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
