Scarborough, Ontario \u2014 16 September 2025 <\/strong>\u2014 The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI), in partnership with Bruce Power and Ontario Power Generation (OPG), hosted the first-ever OCNI Nuclear Industry Day on September 10\u201311, 2025, at the Scarborough Convention Centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event brought together <\/strong>over 120 supply chain companies to showcase innovative services and technologies and participate in forward-looking discussions on the role of nuclear power in Canada\u2019s clean energy future. Participants heard from a range of high-level experts and executives, sharing insights into how the supply chain can take advantage of industry momentum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following introductory remarks, a fireside chat was held with Honorable Todd J. McCarthy, Ontario\u2019s Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, with Nicolle Butcher, CEO of Ontario Power Generation, and Eric Chassard, CEO of Bruce Power. The conversation, moderated by OCNI President & CEO Ivette Vera Perez, underscored how Ontario is preparing its workforce and energy systems for the next generation, while reaffirming nuclear energy\u2019s central role in Canada\u2019s clean energy future. The discussion also explored future challenges, including regulatory processes, financing, and ensuring the skilled workforce needed to meet ambitious nuclear targets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCollaboration and teamwork are the foundation of Canada\u2019s nuclear sector, and events like this strengthen the bonds between utilities, suppliers, and innovators,\u201d said Mr Chassard. \u201cBy working together, we\u2019re not only advancing clean energy solutions\u2014we\u2019re building a resilient, future-ready supply chain that will support our communities and our energy goals for generations to come.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOCNI\u2019s Nuclear Industry Day is a powerful example of the collaboration that defines Canada\u2019s nuclear sector,\u201d said Ms Butcher. \u201cBy working together, we will continue building a strong, sustainable industry that will deliver clean energy, create economic opportunities, and support the next generation of skilled workers. Ontario Power Generation is proud to partner with OCNI and Bruce Power in advancing Canada\u2019s clean energy future.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program also featured a high-level panel discussion on how to bring large nuclear projects from concept to completion, and a series of suppliers panels on collaboration, sustainability, and innovation. Unique to OCNI events, the Industry Day also had curated B2B meetings with Bruce Power and Ontario Power Generation, creating direct opportunities for suppliers to connect with major utilities and project leaders driving the next generation of nuclear development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe 2025 Nuclear Industry Day was the first in a series of initiatives OCNI will be undertaking to better connect the nuclear supply chain, ensure alignment with Canada\u2019s energy objectives, and foster opportunities for growth, innovation, and international collaboration,\u201d said OCNI President & CEO, Ivette Vera Perez. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This inaugural event marks a new chapter for OCNI and its members, providing a platform to connect the nuclear supply chain, showcase Canadian innovation, and strengthen collaboration across the sector. With more than 600 participants in attendance, representing over 100 members of the Canadian nuclear supply chain, including industry leaders, policymakers, and supply chain companies, the event underscored the pivotal role of nuclear energy in supporting Canada\u2019s clean energy future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This first-ever OCNI Nuclear Industry Day has been a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together as a sector,\u201d said OCNI Board Chair, Fabricia Pi\u00f1eiro. \u201cWith strong participation across the nuclear industry, dynamic discussions and meaningful connections, we’ve laid the groundwork for stronger partnerships and a more resilient, innovative, nuclear supply chain.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
